 Printmaking courses - Etching for beginners
Etching is a technique that goes back as far as the 15th century and appears to be one of the oldest mediums used for printing.
This is done by processing a printing plate made of copper, zinc or plastic. In this way one obtains a work of art that can be printed many times.
This printing technique is still used today by a large number of artists means of expression.
You too can learn to use the manifold possibilities of expression using etching.
In the well-equipped Printing Workshop vomgrafenart you will learn with professional instruction and in small groups to create your own etchings.
What awaits you?
- Experienced and well-trained course instructor
- Introduction to the technique of etching:
Plate preparation, drypoint, aquatint, vernis mou, line etching, open etching, etc.
- Handling of materials and tools
- Help with the realisation of your ideas
- A well-equipped workshop with 2 printing presses
- Small groups (max. 5 participants)
What do you bring?
Ideas, photos, drawings as well as an apron or similar and disposable gloves.
Please wear old clothes if possible.
What does a course cost?
A course consists of 10 units of 3 hours @ €260,- in total plus circa €40,- in materials.
In addition, printing plates (copper, zinc or plastic) and printing paper (handmade) can be can be purchased in the workshop at purchase prices.

Dates for 2024 :
- Starters Course: every Monday: April 8th to June 10th - 18:00 to 21:00ÂÂ (10 weeks)
- Experienced Course: next course on request

The registration is obligatorily booked by transfer on account (at the latest 14 days before course beginning).
Cancellation is possible 14 days before the course starts without any costs. After that 50% of the course price will be charged.
In case of cancellation 3 days before the course starts, 90% of the price will be charged.
